Bobby Ologun Japanese Tarento Bullrider?

Nigerian-born Japanese citizen Bobby Ologun attempted to become a rodeo star on Nov 20, 2008

His goal was to appear in the competition and to keep riding for 8 seconds. While he did achieve an eight second ride in one of his practice attempts, he lasted a mere 2 seconds in the actual rodeo.

Bobby Ologun - Offensive?

Bobby is criticised sometimes by foreigners for his act, he generally plays somebody very stupid while using strange facial distortions.

Some wonder if this is a kind of minstrel show.  It is true that Japan is sometimes racially insensitive country, and some may say that Bobby's facial expressions are similar to that of the old days "darkie" iconography.  I think though it may just be his natural reaction.

Being from nigeria, it is not so common to receive the racism as in America.  I am not sure if it is taught in school that his kind of action can be misconstrued.

Anyway, bobbi give us many laughs here in Japan, and I don't think it is meant to be mean or devalue himself... japanese find foreigners funny for many different things and his nice demeanor and poor speaking ability cause his popularity.

Bobby Ologun - A Favorite Talent in Japan

Bobby Ologun is one of the most famous "gaikokujin tarento" in Japan, aka a Foreigner Talent.  He is well known by almost everybody here, due to his comedy ability.  Bobby is originally from Nigeria but now he lives in Japan and is actually a Japanese Citizen now.
